Writing Groups

For five years, I also led "Book and Cake," a creative writing workshop for young people based in Northampton, Massachusetts. Our workshops culminated in the publication of a children's literary magazine, also titled "Book and Cake".

I am the founder and leader of "The Wild Arts Cafe," an intensive writing workshop and mental wellness coaching group for young girls, non-binary, and gender-queer young people. Our group centers around forming community with words and ideas. Young people are in charge of their own stories and poetry. We listen to each other carefully and reflect what we notice: Which words helped us to see an image clearly? Which lines brought forth emotion? Which characters felt real, and why?

This is a nurturing environment where we let our creative juices flow. We laugh a lot, share important discussions, and support each other through our unique and important voices.
